Pilot Training Center

A new standard in quality, value and efficiency of military air-crew training

Elbit Systems of Macedonia-Elmak has invested many resources in building a brand new facility that can accommodate and support the management, instructors, maintenance staff, as well as the cadets and various training assets (simulators and aircraft).

The Pilot Training Center facilities include:

  • Staff offices
  • Classrooms and briefing rooms
  • Debriefing stations
  • Simulator department
  • Hangars
  • Aprons

The modern new facility, together with the Elbit Systems’ extensive experience in air crew training
and aircraft maintenance, ensures a high quality, efficient and safe environment
for training military air crews.

Training assets - Zlin 242-L

Training assets

In order to provide cadets with the highest quality training possible, the PTC is fitted with specially equipped aircraft and simulators. All aircraft are equipped with cameras and digital video recorders (DVR), and are supported by the debriefing systems.

Helicopters are NVG compatible (inside the cockpit and outside) and are equipped with the very best landing gear and wire cutters. All aircraft, including simulators, are equipped with the VOR/ILS/DME systems.

Zlin242-L

The Zlin 242-L, designed for aerobatic training and exercise, is used at the PTC for screening and elementary training of pilot cadets during day and night flights, and in VFR and IFR conditions.

This two-seater, single engine, low-wing cantilever monoplane has an all-metal structure with non-retractable nose gear, and tricycle landing gear powered by a piston-type TEXTRON Lycoming AEIO-360-A1B6 engine with a three blade, hydraulic pitch control MTV-9-B-C/C-188-18a propeller.

With side-by-side seats and all required equipment, this aircraft provides the optimal assessment environment for in-the-air screening and instruction during the elementary phase of flight training.

Bell206-BIII

The Bell 206 BIII is used at the PTC for basic and advanced helicopter training. This popular turbine engine light helicopter, and the entire PTC Bell fleet, is equipped with a Digital Video Recording System (DVRS), VOR/ILS and DME, and has NVG compatible internal and external lighting.

General characteristics:
•    Maximum Cruise Speed (SL, ISA) – 213km/ h
•    Maximum Range (1524 м, ISА) – 778km
•    Gross Weight (normal) – 1 451kg
•    Useful Load – 674kg

•    Capacity: 1 pilot + 4 passengers

Mi-24 Simulator

The Mi-24 full mission helicopter simulator includes full motion capabilities (6 degrees of freedom motion platform by Moog), providing extensive training for new and experienced pilots. The Mi-24 simulator is equipped with the same avionic systems, installed on the upgraded Mi-24 helicopters, which serve the Macedonian Army. Besides the benefits of using real avionics, this simulator is capable of recreating a variety of natural occurrences (wind speed and direction, clouds, visibility and rain or snow conditions). All simulator mission flights are recorded and can be replayed for learning and further instruction.

Mi-8/17/171 Simulator

The Mi-17 full mission helicopter simulator includes full motion capabilities (6 degrees of freedom motion system by Moog), is modular and can simulate Mi-8/17 and Mi-171 helicopters. It is equipped with the same avionic systems implemented on Mi-17 helicopters, which serve the Macedonian Army. The new avionic systems provide advanced mission training, crew management, NVG (including helmet mounted systems) training and instrument approach and landing. All simulator mission flights are recorded and can be replayed for learning and further instruction.

The combination of advanced training assets, including aircraft and simulators, and experienced, combat-proven instructors, together with the screening process, syllabus and overall environment and facilities, distinguish Elbit Systems’ Pilot Training Center from any other standard pilot training academy.
